General
Technical Data Sheet
Prior installation / security notes
- Before beginning the installation of your product, qualified personnel (skilled in electronic/electrical installation) must read completely this guideline. Important information contained herein is to prevent danger and damages of the used product or vehicle.
- The Workshop / Company that is responsible for the initial installation must guarantee the proper installation for at least 12 months
- We are not liable for any damages or errors that occur due to following this installation manual.
- Do not disassemble the device. Do not touch before unplugging the power supply if the device is damaged, the power supply cables are not isolated or the isolation is damaged.
- The device may be connected only by qualified individuals.
- Warning!! May explode, if wrong accumulator is used.
- Any installation and/or handling during a lightning storm is prohibited.
- All installations have to be completed with a function test according this manual. Instructions must not be ignored (e.g. missing permanent power or connection to ignition) and wrong installations will cause the need of a new installation date.
- All installations shall be finished with a short test of all connected signals (using installation app).
Related Software Product
The device sends data to the GPS Fleet Software. The device is identified using the device IMEI number (sticker on the device).
The customer will receive the access details to the GPS Fleet Software from the vendor via email.
Installation Smartphone-App
Using the Workshop App you can check the correct installation of almost all signals.
The customer can create the access details for the workshop app or contact our support.
Power Consumption
Operation mode (in movement) | Sleep mode (after 15 to 60 minutes after movement) | Deep sleep (optional) | Operating voltage |
250 to 315 mA (at 12 VDC) 125 to 160 mA (at 24 VDC) | 20 - 35 mA | < 7 mA | 10V -30V DC |
Internal Accumulator
- Internal NiMH Backup accu with 8,4 V and 550 mAh
- Works for approx 2,5 Stunden (during movement) and approx. 15 hours in sleep mode
- Dhe efficiency of the accu will deplete over time and there is limited warranty from the producer on the accus.
Locating the device
- The device shall be mounted under the dashboard.
- Do not mount close to radio, speakers or CAN electronic control units to avoid signal distortion.
Position of the GPS Antenna
GPS-Antenne shall be placed directly on or under the dashboard close to the front window shield. Avoid to shield the antenna with metals, cables, ...
The sticker of the antenna must show to the ground, the other side shall have a good view to the sky.
Standard installation with main power, ground and ignition
PIN on plug | Name | Wire colour | Details |
11 | VCC (10-30) V DC | red | Main Power +11,8 V - 30 V Direct Current (signal 30), use appropriate jumpers! |
1 | GND (12-30) V DC | schwarz | Ground (signal 31) |
15 | DIN 1 / IGN | gelb | ignition power (signal 15), use appropriate jumpers! |
Installation
Use appropriate jumpers!
- The main power must remain stable even if the vehicle is turned off (and goes into sleep mode)
- The real ignition must go to 0 if the vehicle is switched off
Navigate LED check (GPS signal)
If ignition is ON and device is under open sky, the Navigate LED (GPS LED left) must blink once per second.
GPS LED | Details |
---|---|
Always ON | No GPS signal (or searching) |
Blinking once per second | GPS Signal OK |
OFF | GPS not working (no antenna connected or sleep mode) |
Status LED (data sending activity)
If ignition is ON and device is in GSM network area, the Status LED (GSM LED) must blink every second and faster in case of data transmission.
GSM LED | Bedeutung |
---|---|
Blinking once per second | normal operation |
Bliking every 2 seconds | Sleep mode |
Blinking faster for short period | Data transmission OK |
Blinking fast permanently | Device restart |
OFF | Device not working or firmware update mode |
Short test trip and documentation
Check with a short test trip if all data (GPS positions, time, connected signals) are shown in the GPS Fleet Software or workshop app.
Take down the name of the asset and odometer from dashboard.
